Meruked is a 6-piece contemporary / traditional band hailing from Kuching, Sarawak. Since their inception, their stylistic sound ranges from the nominal raw sound of Borneo’s treasure trove lute instrument, the sape. It’s intricacies are then fused with a modern alternative/ambient sound which generates euphoric choruses and atmospheric experiences.
Meruked comes from the native Lun Bawang tribe dialect which brings the meaning of “Everlasting” as they hope the sape music will live on in its own entirety.
